Laser Hair Removal Pre-Care & Aftercare: Triton Instructions
Last updated September 14, 2026 · 5 min read
Triton laser hair removal is comfortable for most people, and the skin usually settles within a day or two. Preparing correctly and protecting the area afterward is what keeps the treatment both safe and effective.
These are the instructions our team in Lebanon, PA reviews with patients before and after each session. Your provider may adjust them for your skin type and the area being treated.
Before Your Treatment
- Avoid skin irritation and intentional skin tanning. Sunscreen is advisable when outdoors during daylight hours.
- Discontinue any irritant topical agents for 2 to 3 days prior to treatment.
- Do not arrive freshly tanned or using sunless tanner.
- Shave the area being treated prior to your scheduled treatment.
- Arrive with clean skin. There should be no lotion, make-up, perfume, powder, or bath or shower oil present on the skin in the area to be treated.
- A topical anesthetic should be used only as directed by a physician and only if necessary.
- Areas near dental crowns, caps, braces, or other metal dental implants may be more sensitive to treatment. Your clinician may use dental rolls, gauze, or a tongue depressor to isolate the area and make the treatment more comfortable.
Right After Treatment
After a Triton laser hair removal session, proper aftercare is key to avoid irritation and get the best results.
- Your skin may feel like a mild sunburn: warm, red, or slightly swollen. That is normal.
- Apply a cool compress or aloe vera gel to soothe the area.
- Use a gentle, fragrance-free moisturizer.
- Avoid touching, rubbing, or scratching the treated skin.
The First 24 to 48 Hours
- Skip hot showers, saunas, and steam rooms.
- Avoid workouts that cause heavy sweating.
- Avoid deodorant if the underarms were treated.
- Stay away from makeup if the face was treated.
- Do not use harsh skincare. No exfoliants, retinoids, or acids.
Sun Protection
Laser-treated skin is more sensitive to UV damage, so this step matters more than usual.
- Avoid direct sun exposure for at least a week.
- Use a broad-spectrum SPF 30 or higher daily.
- Wear protective clothing if the area is exposed.
The Hair Shedding Phase
- About 1 to 3 weeks later, treated hairs will start to fall out.
- This is expected. Do not pluck or wax.
- You can shave gently if needed.
- Light exfoliation after a few days can help the shedding process.
