Which areas can be treated?

Your provider will assess your facial movement and explain which product and areas are appropriate. Approved uses differ by product; some treatments, including lip flips and gummy-smile treatment, are off-label. Off-label means a use is outside the product's FDA-approved labeling.

Botox vs. Xeomin

Botox contains onabotulinumtoxinA. Xeomin contains incobotulinumtoxinA and is manufactured without accessory proteins. Both temporarily reduce targeted muscle activity, but neither is automatically the better choice for everyone.

Your previous response, anatomy, treatment goals, and medical history help guide product selection. Dosing units are specific to each product and should not be treated as interchangeable.

What happens at your appointment?

Your provider reviews your health history, medicines, prior injectable treatments, and goals, then assesses how your face moves. If treatment is appropriate, small injections are placed in selected muscles. The plan aims to soften lines while preserving a natural-looking expression.

When will results appear, and how long do they last?

Changes may begin within the first several days and continue developing over the following weeks. Many patients notice improvement around two weeks, although full effect varies by product and treatment area and can take longer. Results are temporary and generally last several months; your provider will discuss follow-up and maintenance.

Recovery and important considerations

Temporary injection-site redness, swelling, or bruising can occur. Your provider will explain aftercare, activity guidance, and when to contact the practice. Discuss allergies, nerve or muscle conditions, pregnancy or breastfeeding, and all medications before treatment.

Unwanted weakness or eyelid drooping can occur. Seek urgent medical help for problems swallowing, speaking, or breathing after treatment. Review the product’s safety information with your provider.
