Morpheus8 Aftercare & Recovery: What to Expect
Last updated August 11, 2026 · 6 min read
Recovery after Morpheus8 is straightforward for most people, and knowing what each stage looks like makes it easier to move through. This guide walks through what to expect day by day, and how to care for your skin along the way.
It reflects the aftercare our team in Lebanon, PA reviews with patients after treatment. Your provider may adjust these instructions for your skin and the areas treated — always follow the plan they give you.
The First 24–48 Hours
Your skin is in its most reactive phase right now. The goal is to keep it clean, calm, and undisturbed.
- Mild redness, swelling, warmth, and tenderness similar to a sunburn are normal.
- Avoid touching, rubbing, or picking at the treated area.
- Cleanse gently with a mild cleanser (CeraVe Hydrating Cleanser or DP Dermaceuticals Tri-Phase Cleanser) and lukewarm water.
- Apply Alastin® Regenerating Skin Nectar as directed to support healing, reduce downtime, and enhance recovery.
- Avoid makeup for at least 24 hours or until your provider advises it is safe.
- Avoid strenuous exercise, hot tubs, saunas, steam rooms, and prolonged heat for 24–48 hours.
The First Week
Over the next several days the initial reaction settles and the skin begins its repair process. Sun protection and a pared-back routine matter most here.
- Wear broad-spectrum SPF 30 or higher daily; avoid direct sun exposure.
- Avoid retinoids, exfoliants, glycolic acids, salicylic acids, vitamin C serums, and other potentially irritating products until fully healed.
- Keep skin well hydrated — drink plenty of water and use the moisturizer recommended by your provider.
- Redness, bruising, and swelling usually improve within a week.
- A rough, sandpaper-like texture or tiny pinpoint scabs may develop and are a normal part of healing. Do not pick or scrub the skin.
- Skin may feel dry or slightly bronzed as it heals.
Weeks 2 Through 4: Early Results
Improvements in skin texture, tone, and firmness begin to appear over several weeks.
Months 2 and 3: Continued Collagen Remodeling
- Collagen remodeling continues for up to 3 months after treatment.
- Treatments can be scheduled 6–8 weeks apart.
Caring for Your Results Between Treatments
- Continue daily sunscreen to protect your results.
- Maintain a consistent medical-grade skincare regimen, including Alastin® Regenerating Skin Nectar for pre- and post-procedure care, or Alastin® Restorative Serum for optimizing daily skin health.
- Avoid excessive sun exposure or tanning before your next appointment.
- For best results, complete your personalized treatment series and follow the skincare plan provided by your practitioner.
